The content of this collection is held within eleven series and an oversize folder. Personal Correspondence - Consists of personal correspondence from all aspects of Zimmerman's life. Official Correspondence - From Zimmerman's tenure at the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Bureau of Land Management. Subject Files - In chronological order, beginning with undated files. Tribal and State Issues - In alphabetical order. The end of this series also has information on individual states and projects within the states. Association of American Indian Affairs - Includes minutes of meetings and correspondence. National Congress of American Indians - Includes minutes of meetings and correspondence. Federal and State Legislation - Most of the material is from the 84th and 85th Congresses. Information on appropriations and other legislative information is also included. Internal Office Files - Contains office files, in Chronological order. Public Relations and News Releases - Consists of materials from the Department of Interior and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Miscellaneous Publications on Indian Affairs - Contains publications and various newspaper clippings from around the country. Some of the publication were written by Zimmerman himself. Clippings are not in any order. American Indian Policy Review Commission - This series was added in May 2004. It contains reports, reviews, and legal documents from and relating to the American Indian Policy Review Commission (AIPRC) and its various task forces. An oversize folder contains a map, "The North American Indians--1950 Distribution of Descendants of the Aboriginal Population of Alaska, Canada, and the United States."
